Product information

Buck - legendary knives

Buck is characterised by the latest metal processing combined with a great tradition. The family-owned business, now in its fourth generation, produces knives which are extremely popular with hunters, anglers and bikers. Creativity and innovation have always been an integral part of the company's history. Even as a young blacksmith apprentice, founder Hoyt Buck developed a heat treatment method which gave his blades exceptional edge retention. In 1964, his son Al Buck revolutionised the knife industry with the lockable folding knife Folding Hunter. Today, Buck is one of the world's leading knife manufacturers.

    Buck 119 Special Hunting/Outdoor Knife:

The "119 Special" is the classic fixed-blade knife from Buck. Virtually unchanged for almost 50 years, it epitomises the classic American hunting and multipurpose Bowie-style knife. The 119 Special has a 420 HC stainless-steel blade and comes in two versions. The version "for traditionalists" has a brass pommel and finger guard plus a handle made of finest Cocobolo wood. The second version is considerably lighter and has an aluminium pommel and finger guard plus a sturdy but lightweight handle made of Ebonite (hard rubber). Both versions have a rugged saddle-leather sheath for conveniently wearing the knife on your belt (handle upwards or downwards.

    Handle length 11.5 cm
    Blade length 15.0 cm
    Overall length 26.5 cm.
    Weight 383 g/300 g

    420 HC steel:
Buck's standard blade material because it combines the wear resistance of a high-strength carbon steel with the corrosion resistance of stainless steel. Add to this the special Buck heat treatment process and you have an extremely user-friendly combination of edge retention, and excellent corrosion resistance plus high strength and durability. It also means that the blade is very easy to resharpen. A Rockwell hardness of 58 Rc is achieved.
