Anybody who looks at the LSL conversion projects can see straight away that the people work with a great deal of passion and at least equally as much technical expertise. It is true that LSL places enormous value on creating a great look for all of its products, but maximum biking pleasure through excellent performance is always central to every product development. LSL has made an extremely good name for itself in the field of ergonomic optimization (handlebars, grips, levers and footrests). LSL also specialises in chassis- and hydraulic components, crash protection and lighting. Several accolades testify to the fact that LSL has taken the right approach with its commitment to technical finesse and quality without compromise - such as the fact LSL has won the 2013 "PS" magazine readers choice award in the "accessories/conversions" category for the fifth consecutive time.

    Water and salt encourage corrosion. After cleaning (e.g. with Procycle Special Gel Cleaner, Order no. 10004909), we recommend regularly polishing aluminium parts with standard aluminium polish (e.g. Alu-Magic, Order no. 10004031).

    German type approval ("ABE)" allows the accessory concerned to be used on the vehicle models listed in the test report. Here it is the type abbreviation and not the maker's designation that is important for identifying the vehicle. The test report must be kept with the vehicle and shown on request if you are stopped at a roadside check or at the regular safety inspection at the TÜV test centre.
    Accessories with ABE type approval do not have to be entered in the vehicle registration documents. To avoid always having to always take the test report with you, you can have a relevant entry made by TÜV (subject to a charge).
    If you wish to use an accessory on a vehicle not listed in the type approval, TÜV inspection is necessary. Although ABE type approval confirms the proper installation and safety of the product, it is the inspector who has to decide according to his technical expertise whether it is suitable for use on the vehicle.

    LSL Flat Superbike Handlebar as a X-Bar

    X-Bar handlebars counteract annoying bounce and give significantly larger reserves in extreme situations.

    Made from high-quality aluminium (2014 T6 - extremely sturdy). This handlebar tapers conically (diameter: 28.6mm) from the clamping area to the ends, which means that flexural strength is virtually doubled, minimising deformation. The diameter at the outer edges is 22 mm. Available in black anodised.

    The handlebar can, of course, be mounted on other models, if compatible. In this case, individual component or modification approval from a test centre (e.g. TÜV, Dekra) and entry in the vehicle papers will be required. Suitable handlebar clamps should then be ordered separately, if required (see "Compatible products").

    Note: Aftermarket handlebars are supplied without a hole for securing the switch unit. Positioning varies depending on the bike model. Drilling into the handlebar for securing purposes is permitted: First, ensure that your new handlebar is optimally aligned with the bike. Try out the positioning of the switch units, making sure that they do not hit the tank at full lock. Mark the securing hole and drill the handlebar to the right diameter. To make sure that the drill doesn't slip on the smooth handlebar tube, or if you are prone to mistakes when centre punching or somehow not drilling straight, you should use the LSL drilling jig, Order no. 10005264 (see "Compatible products"). This is the sure way to avoid such mistakes.

    For BMW F800 R models, a special mounting kit is required for fitting this handlebar. Please order under article number 10021005.

  • PS Issue 08-2008

    In its 8/2008 issue, "PS" magazine tested the LSL Fat-Bar handlebar with clamps on the Suzuki Bandit 1200, rating it as "Good". The enhanced ergonomics came in for special mention.
